Broadcast Contribution – ARD, ZDF, Deutschlandradio

In Germany household has to pay the Rundfunkbeitrag, formerly known as GEZ-Gebühr, a contribution to the public-service broadcast (ARD, ZDF, Deutschlandradio). The licence fee is 17.50€ per month and is only paid once per residence. E.g. if you live in shared accommodation, you only have to pay one broadcast contribution once, no matter how many people live there.

You are released from paying it if you receive BAföG. Applications for exemption you can find in front of the BAföG Service Point at Campus, building D4.1 (Mensa), in the basement.

There are also some other options to be exempted from the broadcast contribution.

The public broadcasters, ARD, ZDF und Deutschlandradio provide the most important information on their website in Arabic, English, French, Turkish  and some other languages.

For more detailed information, please ask your buddy or directly at the BAföG Service Point.
